    A friend is travelling to HK and has two extra days to explore. She loves pearls and although I have searched this forum, all the shopping tips were about trade shows. Where does a regular Joe (or in this case, Josephine) go to buy pearls? Any other HK tips or must - sees appreciated! Thanks!

    Yes, my grandmother's starburst pin is definitely American - it probably belonged to her mother who was married in 1900 (grandmother came along in 1904). I also have my great-grandmother's amethyst necklace with some natural pearls on it - they are like little nuggets, not pearl shaped at all...

    You could buy yourself a pendant, a nice single pearl, while in Tahiti and then buy your strand online. A bit of romance!

    You're not alone. I like to have my pearls on my nightstand and they are wonderful to look at before bed. Very soothing to look at something beautiful at the end of the day.
