Such lovely comments! Thanks for liking it. I'd been wearing my pearl in that sterling lotus basket, but you couldn't really see it very well. Then I saw this pendant on Ebay:
The goldsmith advertised that she likes to use reclaimed precious metals, so I sent her that and asked could she do it...
Well, I did it. Had my pearl made into a pendant. Found a goldsmith who consented to use my dad's and granddad's wedding bands to make a gold clamshell. I sent her the rings, an assortment of small clamshells (the shell it came in was 4 or 5 times that big), and she made a mold and then cast it...

5 years after I posted of finding a purple pearl in my steamed clams, I still have it. JUST now bought a gem cage on Ebay for it, after Caitlin reassured me that it probably wouldn't be harmed by rolling around in there...

My photos were missing (hard drive crash, windows 7, oops!) I just now re-photographed my pearl and wanted them on this thread. I apologize.
New Ebay listing. I like the price better on this one (last month some guy had an ugly one wanted $18,000.) Maybe with a more reasonable price, these pearls might generate some interest?

Oh well...
Oh well...
I'm pretty bummed out about it (although it's WAY up to $107 now!)
There's an online store called The Purple Store. (for purple-aholics that buy everything they can in purple...) The owner told me she's interested in becoming the "go to" person for these pearls since...
I'm ready to have my purple pearl appraised, but have googled to no avail in the Minneapolis area for a pearl appraiser. Not that just any appraiser would have knowledge of the Quahogs. Can anyone direct me to an appraiser, even if I have to mail it?
