These were found in Florida. On a local beach. Can anyone give me there opinion of what they may be. What type of pearl.

Take them out of the plastic containers, put them on a white paper towel, in the shade in natural light, and take a photo in focus. That will help us determine what these are. I live in Florida. If these were found on the beach, they're probably beads or glass that has been tumbled by the...

Stringing Tutorial with photos: Stringing on Serafil, Beaders Secret & Power Pro

Oh yes. I also hold the pearl and Serafil like that when going back through the pearls to try to avoid splitting the original thread with the beading needle.

lary007: Love your T's! And I JUST got off the Zoom with Hisano this minute. The Wishbone setting was too small for the Kasumi pearl. It would have looked weird. But I was already leaning towards a little h, yellow gold, round, diamond bail, because it would be the exact same shape and...

I e-mailed PP and asked if there were any pistachios in the next PP Live event and I was told no. Hum. I just checked the photo on Facebook. Some of those strands look pistakio-ee! I love that big blue strand and the white strand next to it. Someone put me on Ban Island, NOW. I do...

Any advice on stringing double strand of pearls?

It's a bit more fiddly, but exactly the same. You just have to wait until you're done restringing both strands before doing the last few pearls to attach to the clasp. You could also try starting in the middle and working towards the clasp from both sides, to make sure the middle pearls align.

Stringing Tutorial with photos: Stringing on Serafil, Beaders Secret & Power Pro

Here's how I solved my "ending the strand" problems using Serafil. Start: I cut one pearl off my old strand and thread it onto a length of Serafil 5 times the length of the final necklace. End of the thread is clipped to a hemostat. Other end of the Serafil goes through a large eye beading...

Trying a different pearl combo today. Yellow gold Mikimoto huggies. Pomme de la Mer South Sea pendant from PP. South Sea, Tahitian, and blue baroque akoya keshi tin-cup from Kojima. Terrible lighting today. Lots of thunderstorms.

    Mikimoto authenticity?

1st strand. I've never seen that clasp before on Mikimoto pearls. 2nd strand. I've seen that design of clasp, but never in silver. I've only seen that clasp in yellow or white gold. I know Miki used to use silver clasps 50+ years ago, but it wasn't that design. I'm not saying these aren't...

How Identify These Pearls in my Bracelet

They look like dyed, button shaped, freshwater pearls from China. This shape was common about 20 years ago before the Chinese started putting round beads in the center to make them round. So they are 100% pearl nacre. These are the sort of pearls I would find at bead stores. Inexpensive, but...

OOOOO, they're going to livestream PBTB. I might get to sort of attend! Not the same as being there, though. Lazy day. 100% Kamoka chested today. Sharkey pendant and black and white Tahitian studs. I'm really NOT into sharks, but this carved pearl was so cute that I couldn't resist it...

Found these at an estate sale

I agree. The first necklace is a worn out imitation pearl necklace. The bracelet is some sort of black beads, not pearls. The clasps are base metal and worn out.

    Chinese red fresh water Pearls

Peach and pink freshwaters have been around for years. I found this listing. https://eusharon.com/products/12-14mm-aaa-chinese-red-perfect-round-edison-loose-pearl They're pretty, but I would not call those pearls red myself. They look yellow and peach to me. I think the term red would be...

Somebody put me on Ban Island and take away my credit card, please. I've bought way too many pearls this year, and the Baroque Akoya Live event is coming up. I'm doomed. Today I want to wear my "half new" Mikimoto earrings. I think these will be forever known as my eclipse earrings from now...

What kind of pearls are these?

I agree with the appraiser. They are real pearls, but they are cultured (farmed) pearls as compared natural found pearls (found in the wild). They are Rice Krispie shaped pearls, which were typical of Chinese freshwater pearls from the 1980s and 90s. They also are not very good quality, and...

Lots of pearls in the mail today. My Mikimoto earrings are back!!! I cannot tell which is the old earring and which is the new earring, although my gut feeling (under magnification) is that the earring on the right is the old earring. Since we decided to remove the old pearl from the...
