Hi
Consider buying straightforward strands from a pearl supplier rather than ready-made jewellery. You will save a fortune. And possibly have much more choice too

Thanks Mandy and Sueki!

Wendy, I don't buy in bulk because I don't resell.

I buy temporarily strung pearls and stone strands at regional gem shows, on eBay and local bead shops. I've also found really good deals at thrift shops (taking apart and redoing strands), flea markets, even antique collectives (including new, not previously-owned.)

The reason I bought these pearls at retail is they were exactly what I needed to complete this specific strand, and the price wasn't high--and I hadn't seen any similar metallic fancy colored oval pearls anywhere else. If I find more of the same quality, I'll buy them for my daughter. But most of what I buy is temporarily strung, though I'm sure I'm paying more than someone buying in bulk would pay.

Hi Pearl_dreams,
I forgot to say that the pearls look just as good on you as on your daughter.....

Everything is a raw material. I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes everything apart. Except my vintage strand.

I also take apart pieces I've made which I'm bored with and redo them for a new look.

I'm trying a few larger images for better detail. These are uploaded from Photobucket so they won't last forever; eventually they will be deleted.

I'm finding these highly wearable. The colors go with everything.

Gosh!
Can it get any better than that? Congrats, Pearl_Dreams! To have a whole strand like that and in that size, Yum!!! My Exotics (smaller round ones) from that offer are still unstrung, so lovely, and guilt is washing over me------------look at those green overtones--I just have to comment again------

Thank you both!

I wore these when I went out today (looking for a handbag) and was surprised at how the colors popped under the store's fluorescent lights -- probably because of the blue/green tones of the lighting.

Pattye, did you wait to string yours because you, too, weren't quite sure what you wanted to do with them? Or do you have a plan but just haven't found the time yet? Those smaller round exotics had unbelievable metallic colors judging from Jeremy's photos!

*drooling at the memory*

Hi Pearl Dreams.

I have a necklace with the 6-7 round exotics. In my opinion the colours of the round ones aren´t as intense as in the ovals... Not sure if they have the same or less metallic luster as the ovals though. I´m not great at judging if a pearl looks metallic or not.

Wow. It's great you can find something that complements the exotics. I like the blue and metallic gold the best.

Congratulations on converting your daughter. Mine is not there yet. Although she is still thinking about single tahitian on leather anklet/bracelet. On the other hand, my husband has already bought 2 baroque Tahitian leather pieces from Jeremy already.

Resistance is futile. She will be assimilated.

My husband wears a 'peacock' dyed CFW pearl that looks remarkably like a Tahitian on a leather cord (and he plans to get a real Tahitian.) Men look really good in Tahitians, don't they!
