Actually these are my first south sea pearls ever! I just got them in the mail today from Druzy Design. Silver blue south sea baroque drops from Australia.
I also bought a freshwater sterling silver pearl ring from her which is in the photo. Couldn't resist :0)
And OMG I got a free South Sea pearl from lombok thrown in. So nice.

Part of my image got cut off. I'll have to add a new one at some point.

Love that platinum blue! Great choice, that is where I got mine, too!

Very nice! Her gold always looks unusual to me. What is it, exactly?
Does she cast in 22k herself?

Patty,I've seen your necklace. It's so beautiful ( your whole collection is actually). The blue color is really nice and you just don't see it very often.

It's 22k. She has things made in Bali. Maybe the goldsmith alloys his/her own gold?

What about her gold looks odd to you? I've never noticed a difference between it and the other 22k pieces I own. Now I'm curious. Maybe later I'll pull some for a side by side comparison.

Oh! And the pieces are beautiful, Casey!! I just received some SS keishi earrings I bought. I couldn't resist them any longer. They are nice, plump white keishis of a pretty good size. Good thing I bought them right BEFORE I got a $210 speeding ticket! Otherwise, I may have tried to convince myself to cut back on the pearl portion of my monthly budget.

Couldn't sympathize more with your feelings about money wasted on a speeding ticket. I used to have a clothing budget until I got really into pearls. Why couldn't I look more like Lady Godiva....?

Oh, it is strictly a matter of personal preference...I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with her gold. 22k has a characteristic color...unfortunately it reminds me a lot of the far less extravagant vermeil. Though I should consider using some in my work...I really like the bali style stuff that Care Ehret uses. Maybe I'd like it more in a lower carat.

IMHO--what's so different is that the 22k and 20k gold doesn't have a high polish, like we find on lots of 14k and 18k jewelry. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it grew on me!!! The alloys that make up the part that isn't gold also affect the color. For example, in 18k gold there are 25% alloys and 75% pure gold.

Casey, those are faboo pearls you have there! Your first South Sea Pearls are fancy-colored and set in high-karat gold. I like it -- why not start off at the top?

Absolutely, Pattye.
The high carat gold, not having a high shine, fits nicely with pearls as it doesn't try to compete with the pearls' lustre, I feel.
Having said that, I do love my necklace with highly polished silver beads used as spacers between the pearls.....

And Casey, your earrings are gorgeous. Enjoy them - the pearls are beautiful.

Casey - I'm quite jealous! They are such a pretty color. I also have one of Care's silver pieces - a pendant. I'm glad she is doing the silver as well as the 22k since silver looks better on me than gold (not that that fact has stopped me from buying her gorgeous pearls in the past!)
