I have seen this happen over the years to necklaces we have strung. My conclusion is that eventho the nucleus and the coating are essentially the same there are chemical differences and physical differences which force them to expand and contract at different rates.
You need to decide if you are persuaded by the Hana dama certificate to identify top quality or are willing to shop in person for a company that has AAA material in stock for you to buy.. I haven't seen a Hana dama certificate for a few years so maybe the promoters have gone their way.
