Hope you don't mind - I'm just going pearl crazy at the moment and had to take shots of my pearls side by side. I'm now eyeing a Tahitian AND a freshadama/gem grade strand for my next acquisition. Pearls are addictive! Top are my 7-7.5mm natural unbleached hanadama studs, followed by the 8.5-9mm natural unbleached hanadama necklace, which is followed in turn by a graduates 7-9mm Mikimoto grade A1 necklace and my cheap 8-8.5mm freshwater pearls that I got from a local BnM chain store.

They are all beautiful in their own way and I'm sure you enjoy wearing all of them. Your new Tahitians will open up a whole other world of want. Be prepared! And we like nothing more (I think I can safely say "we") than to look at pictures of each others' pearls. We may be crazy, but we are the same crazy in that way!

Help! I'm blinded! Ha! Those pearls are gorgeous. I think I see more blue overtones with the rose in the first one. Or I could just be seeing things?!

Yes I agree! The Hanadama unbleached white does seem to have more blue overtones. In particular, there is one pearl within that strand that really stands out with an almost metallic sharp blue shine. I can always pick out that pearl when I examine the strand. I love it!

I have the same necklace. On mine, the overtones are almost equally rose and blue. That is supposed to be the hallmark of the finest akoyas. Both of your akoya necklaces are stunning. You are going to enjoy branching out, but it will be hard to match the akoya luster short of getting metallic freshwater pearls.
