jerin & knotty,

thanks so much for the insight. i'm going to relook at freshadama/Elite/presidential again.

purepearls Elite has 10-11mm pearl strand, that is so tempting but way out of my current budget but oh so pretty!

I have to agree with Jerin. Large FW pearls of the future will probably be bead nucleated once the kinks are worked out. It just make the most sense for the farmer to get a marketable product out as quickly as they can......so if I were buying something special for my wife, I'd get the biggest gem quality, Freshi-presidetial-elite strand I could find...

Just my 2 cents ( and worth every cent).

Karl

I totally agree. That is why I also tout "investing" in gem quality solid nacre freshwaters. I really think the prices are going to skyrocket on those.

i'm afraid i won't be able to afford a strand of SS pearls for a long long time

having said that, my budget is about US$1200, i'll definitely burst my budget if i get the SS pearls since i would have to spend more to get them set at the jewellers and with gold prices at it's all time high, i'm not sure if that's a good idea either....

as for my mikis and freshadamas, maybe i really should just ignore the fact that they DON'T have to match at all. i'm just so used to have somewhat matching jewellery...haha...
I am now a big fan of deep golden SS from DruzyDesign. Her GSS pieces are to die for and have very very deep natural golden color. I recently purchased a pair of earrings and a bracelet from her and extremely happy with them.
With your $1200, you could get a pair of deep golden earrings here http://cgi.ebay.com/BREATHTAKING-22K...QQcmdZViewItem with a matching pendant here http://cgi.ebay.com/STUNNING-22K-DIA...QQcmdZViewItem or keshi (solid nacre by the way) bracelet here http://cgi.ebay.com/EXQUISITE-22K-SO...QQcmdZViewItem. Here's the picture of the keshi bracelet.

Oh the pendant link is so pretty!

Am curious to see how the SS set your mum gifted you looks... maybe it just needs a re-design? Any chance of pics?

v_ni, can't wait to see which you go with. If you can't get the 10-11, necklace, perhaps you can get the 8-9 or 9-10 necklace and earrings in 9-10 10-11? Are you getting white?
Space needle I love the druzy Design stuff too. Those goldens are beautiful. So many of her pieces are on my wish list!

The pictures of the earrings and pendant show some flaws on the pearls... Obviously, there's always some balancing act between color, lustre, size, flawlessness... but with the color depending on what you choose to see in a photo and similar size available flaw-free elsewhere...

... the golden keshi bracelet seems the most tempting of the three pieces; the pearls seem more plump and symmetrical then most!

Just a thought.

Oh yes, I saw those too. The colour is so deep and so rich! Absolutely YUMMY. The golden strand I posted some time ago from Carolyn is also amazing.

spaceneedle, oh those are all so pretty, i actually prefer lighter gold color than the deep gold. i read that the deep gold are more valuable....hahaha.... thanks for the heads up!

BluePawprint, hiya! good to see you here! i see that you are waiting for your loot!! how exciting!!! i'll try and post some pics on my SS pearls when i have the time...

Casey.R, yes i'm now considering gem quality 9-10mm with matching earrings (can't decide whether i should go for dangling or studs), i'm also eyeing on a pair of AAA FWP 10-11mm earrings and ring set. been reading up on the quality difference on the forum....

SS pearls are totally out for now....i'm a total convert for fwp!

v_ni, Do you wear dangles or studs more often? I'd go with whichever your more comfortable nwith on a daily basis. Maybe even have a look at some of the same size in a local shop just to see how it looks.

Spaceneedle, Wow! Good choice. How many of her pieces do you own?
