| Here's a very bad photo (i will HAVE to get better at this) of some mabe being produced in South Africa. Colours are naturally much better in real life!! |

| Very interesting! What species are they? The colors seem very like those of our black abalone (H. cracherodii) which have the darkest outside shell but the most delicately colored inside. | Not sure of species although I will check and post when I have response. We're not performing the project but it is being undertaken by a large group in South Africa. We have supplied the mabe nuclei and other advise. I believe at this stage they are only just starting and hope to have first reasonable harvest later this year. |
