Here's a very bad photo (i will HAVE to get better at this) of some mabe being produced in South Africa. Colours are naturally much better in real life!!

Very interesting! What species are they? The colors seem very like those of our black abalone (H. cracherodii) which have the darkest outside shell but the most delicately colored inside. How far along with your project are you?

Not sure of species although I will check and post when I have response. We're not performing the project but it is being undertaken by a large group in South Africa. We have supplied the mabe nuclei and other advise.

I believe at this stage they are only just starting and hope to have first reasonable harvest later this year.
