1980s Mikimoto Rope! 52”.
Just received them today! Original owner purchased them in Japan 1987 for 495390 yen/$3462. I got them for $1781.55 after shipping and tax.
What a deal!
I wasn’t familiar with the clasp. But found the markings with the loop. Hard to photograph.
I believe they are A or A1. And 6mm in size.
Here’s a comparison:
Top-Mikimoto graduated 7-9mm strand
Middle-Mikimoto bracelet 6.5mm
Bottoms-Mikimoto rope (measures at 6mm)
Does sizes 6mm and 6.5mm make that much of a difference?
The clasp can’t close onto itself. It can only be clasp onto a pearl. Played around with it and this is my favorite way to wear them (shown on my DD)
I went ahead and ordered materials for restringing from @pattye but the silk is clean and intact. I gave it a lil tug. So I won’t restring it for now. The gimp is tarnished and gold clasp has patina. The gold cleaned up well and the tarnished gimp isn’t that noticeable. I’ll probably restring it sometime next yr. Not looking forward to it since it’s 52” long lol.
