Just got done confessing to Mother -in -law that I have pounds of pearls. I keep what I love! I know what I don't like: ones that have a roundish with 1 very flat side or No luster! But I find that if they have got luster and a nice interesting shape..I love them! Some colors don't look...

Sometimes I have had this... Often it will come loose with a soak in acetone....But sometimes NOT..... But I only tried it on acetone pearls I was throwing away if they didn't loosen. Attack would probably do it.

There are lots of different ways to restring.. If you haven't done it before...get a kit from Pattye...the best thread ever!!!... & you get the needles & frenchwire. (even if you have...get Pattye's thread!!) Then check out the tutorials on the lowly beaders thread. I now can restring...

These are perfect & so much more accurate!!!!! (It really is accurate that counts over instagram worthy) I don't know how a photo, background, angle or whatever can make them seem so oval...but it does! ...

I have 1 that is NOT loosening either! Boiled it 3 times, 3 minutes each...gets super hot & stays on there. ...I'll try acetone first (It kind of eats the faux pearl) or attack.

Do report back... It would be helpful. Might as well do it for science!

Yup, Akoyas...the photo is giving them a weird oval shape.

I did mine slowly too. I doubt the amethyst thing.. I can't actually remember wearing rings when I put things in a hot oven..(Of course I had hot pads...so maybe enough protection?)....but I will bet I had amethyst necklaces on when opened the oven. But them might be heat sensitive for sure.

Good news, you can wear them when you want, even to the grocery store...they are fairly easily replaced. Expensive can be where & when your grandmother got them. When rice (krispy) pearls first came out they were expensive. When my parents brought me button pearls from China...they were new &...

Sorry for the horrible photos! I can tell they are Akoyas, but they seem so uniform color... I am guessing dyed? I can usually tell dyed freshwater..there is always dye build-up somewhere. But these are harder. Any tips on telling dyed Akoyas?

I found more faux's on 14k... Those are Not letting loose so easy. I wonder what that would do to a Majorica? Do you want to re-use them? My faux's were totally ruined...but it did not make them worse.

My Phone is horrible for making round pearls look slightly potato! Watch your angles.

I would put that in you eventual Attack pile. Drilling has not worked for me..the pearl is softer than the metal.

Ennui...I resisted attack for a long time...but only a few pearls loosened with acetone. I now have 12-15 pieces that need pearl removal... so it was finally worth it!

So...I have Tahitians needing a gold earring post & ruined faux pearls. I want to remove the faux pearl and glue on lovely Tahitians. Would you try Acetone? or Attack? (If not one knows, I will try the milder acetone, if that does NOT work, then attack.)

I finally got Attack & because I have a bunch that need it. Is 45 minutes OK for pearls too? Can I put 4-5 pieces in at once or will the expoy get on the other pieces?
