I want a blue akoya strand too, blues are beautiful and to me they seem quite rare as I can't find any really nice ones either.

I love akoya pearls so I am with you. My first ever pearls was an akoya 3 strand bracelet which is now considered vintage! I have a beautiful strand too. I love the texture of them and the lustre too, they are very classy and I really really want a blue akoya strand!

What has happened with Japanese Akoya pearl farming? The pearls used to be fairly commonplace did they not? and now it seems a lot of Akoya pearls are coming from China. Are Japanese Akoya still being produced in good numbers? I am very interested in the history and what is happening now. I was...
