Sorry, MOPTrumpet, I did not see a message… I typically use 14kt gf for my wire-wrapping projects. I’m a bit wasteful with my wire as I like a long tail at the end to twist in place.

The weather sure warmed up in a hurry this weekend. I didn’t feel like having anything around my neck, so I worked on a couple anklets. The pearls are extra from my Takahashi project and the Akoya keshi are also from Takahashi. The turquoise is from Druzy.

Thanks for your reply...I've seen the GF wire and was thinking about using it, but I hate using GF wire on 14K gold chain.

Nice pieces, and very fun for those hot days when necklace pearls get sweaty...that's definitely the case here in Texas!
I was thinking about GF wire but I hate using GF on a 14K necklace. I guess I'll practice with the GF more before trying 14K. It is easier to get a good curl and tucked in wrap when you have a longer tail to play with...wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that with 14K! I'm trying to see what the shortest workable piece will be to get a good wrap so I don't waste 14k wire or headpins (which I'm considering using). Headpins come in 1", 1.5" and 2"...I guess I'll practice with those same length GF first to see what I can manage and how much waste if involved.

CatMom, your hubby is very thoughtful about picking up little treasures from his trips. My late husband would follow me around and pay attention to what I was looking at, then would surprise me with it later. (not necessarily jewelry) I never figured out when he was able to get back to a shop to make the purchase.

That's so sweet about your late husband jeg. I think my hubby felt guilty, lol. He had to travel a lot for his work.
 
Yesterday I wore Sharky from Kamoka. No photo, sorry. Today it's Spring Blossom (Kojima pendant) on a unique pistachio, baroque akoya necklace from Pearl Paradise that I bought at Ruckus. This was the only strand like this. I love it. Pistachio Tahitian stud earrings from Kojima are a perfect match to the necklace.

MOPTrumpet, I don’t have the same aversion to wrapping with 14kt gf even when I use 14kt findings. The things I make are more casual and for myself, so it’s an easy fix if something needs to be replaced or reworked.

I was so enamored with a photo posted on Kojima’s IG, of all the colors of Akoya Sarah found in a lot. I envisioned a tin cup bracelet.:love: I asked Sarah about the pearls, but unfortunately they were not suited for being made into a tin cup. So, I asked Takahashi if they might have some baroque Akoya in varied sizes and unusual colors. They kept me posted and let me know they were “looking up and down their office,” and then came back with a fantastic selection. How could I choose 10 for a bracelet?! Change of plans… I purchased all of them and made a necklace. These are baroque Akoya, and are all natural colors.

I like that salt & pepper beard you are working on. Consider matching with a mixed strand of salt & pepper pearls (dyed Akoya or darker Tahitian), or a strand I saw on Pattye's Etsy site, that had white pearls with black silk thread knots! That would be stunning!

These are a pair of Gem quality Champagne Golden SSP earrings 13.4 mm with 4 diamonds. While I absolutely LOVE the look of this earring, the size of the pearl, and smooth, mirror-like luster, the skin is impeccably clean...but I"m not totally in love with the color. I prefer darker golden. When I inquired about these the vendor said 'they are the color they look on your monitor'...what a putoff and very unprofessional. I was trying to ask if I could get a darker color but no such luck. so I'm seriously thinking about returning them because I'm not in love with the color and they were not cheap :) . The vendor is Pearls of Joy. They don't provide pictures (only stock) so you don't know what you're ultimately getting. They don't even tell you the size of the diamonds. If anyone else has dealt with Pearls of Joy what was your experience with them? If there is another thread for these kind of topics I would appreciate the redirect.

@heartofawareness Those are very gorgeous earrings, but if you don't completely love them because of the color, I agree with returning them... I have several pearl pieces that I thought I could learn to love, but sadly, they just sit in a drawer and never get worn.

I'm commenting on the color of your earrings. To find 2 matching 13mm+ round pearls with beautiful skin is an amazing thing for South Sea Goldens. Most earrings I've seen lately of that quality have imperfections in the skin, are oval or a bit off round. Also, it is my understanding that SS Goldens come in Cream, Champagne, 14K 18K and 24K to grade their color. The darker the pearl, the more rare it is, and definitely the price point goes with the color depth. This was covered in the Pearl Course. Not sure what shade you were looking for, but I've seen very few of those 18K and 24K pearls available anywhere (unless they are the cheap Chinese dyed pearls). Here are photos of my 2 darkest (14K range) SS Goldens and my Champagne (off round) SS Golden earrings. The enhancer is 12mm and the pendant is 10.2mm. The Earrings are 12.8mm. Just thought you might like to compare color on these.
If you paid a lot for your earrings, then the shipping cost/return is worthwhile. You were wise to purchase from such a reputable seller. Sorry your purchase wasn't the fully joyful experience you were hoping for but I'm sure you will be able to work things out.
