Question Does This Look Like Coral?

I'm wanting to list a ring and would love to know what the "stone" is. Any clue? Thank you ever so much in advance. PearlGuideOrangeRing.jpg

So far it does not look like coral to me. Too red and even. I don't see the growth striation for exemple. But a close-up of the stone would be necessary to tell more

The pinkish-red solid color could indicate dyed chalcedony. Is the ring open or closed back?

Last week someone posted something from a goodwill site, I kept the site in my book marks and look what they have for sale? They say it's faux pearl, well, that's because it's not pearl at all. https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/52307212

Wow!!! What do you ladies think those green stones are? The machine might be the best "metal" detector on the market lol, but it failed the gems tests ...

Possibly jade. It was much more affordable back when.

That's what I was thinking too, Pattye. The stones are open in the back, to let light through, and from the front, the bigger green stone looks to be very translucent, even almost transparent with occlusions ... but jade makes the most sense with the coral ...

Evaluating on those lines also, Cathy. Sure is a pretty piece. Wonder what the real value is?

I can't imagine, Pattye! I know if I saw it at the fancy antique jewelry company with multiple booths at the Intergem shows, I'd likely have to sell a car to buy it Lots of diamonds there too, and just think of the gold weight on the clasp alone.

Gorgeous necklace! It went for $1900+! Wow! When things like this happen it always makes me want to do an inventory so my kids know what I have and know what it is worth. I have found several nice pieces in thrift store grab bags. I always wonder what the story is behind the donation. Unfortunately the Goodwills in my area have stopped selling jewelry for this exact reason, and the prices on shopgoodwill are out of my range. I will have to get my cheap bargain hunting thrills somewhere else! Lol!
