    Default Swedish Royal Jewelry documentary.

The Swedish royal family just released a 2 part documentary on their royal jewels. Serious tiara pron (sic). Plus some gorgeous pearls.

If you open the videos in Google Chrome, I believe it will give you an English translation. I watched it in Swedish, didn't understand a word, and enjoyed every minute of it. Scroll down so you can watch both parts. 2 hours of escapism.

    Thanks BWeaves for the link.

Wowza those tiaras are fabulous. So very intricate in design and in jewels. I watched the first 30 minutes, and it is fabulous. Plan on watching more a little later. Thanks again for the link, as this was fascinating, as was seeing all the beautiful bling bling !!

I too, watched the Swedish version. What I found interesting, is there were some common words with Dutch, which I understand. And other words that were very similar to Dutch words as well, I knew the meaning. I knew that Scandinavian languages are similar to each other, however I did not realize there were some commonalities with Dutch as well. Guess Northern European languages have some in common, as Dutch and German are far more similar.

AzFlyGirl, I am Danish and happen to understand Swedish though most Danes have lost that ability after we no longer have to supplement our television viewing with Swedish channels (when I was growing up there was one Danish and two (!) Swedish). I don't understand a word of Dutch but when I see it written, I can get the general meaning. Which, I think, is because I know German. German was spoken by many in the upper classes in past centuries, I believe, and many German words found their way into the Scandinavian languages.

Rarely a few English words or idioms would be said, and that surprised me.

That documentary is great. Gorgeous jewelry and beautiful tiaras. Since I do speak swedish, there was a lot of interesting facts about the jewelry and their history as well. The swedish royal family has lots of gorgeous pearls as well. They aught tonmake a pearl documentary as well I think.

BW, thanks so much! Such exquisite HUGE gems and fabulous pearls! I wasn't able to get an English translation, but the photography was outstanding and so was worth watching. (I may come back and watch again, too!)
