Those who are not from India may not have heard of these, but temple jewellery is a popular fine jewellery form in India. It originated in 9th century AD in Tamil Nadu in Chola Dynasty as fine jewellery ornaments with motifs of Gods and Goddesses adorning idols in temples. Later dancers and royals started wearing them and now it is a major fine jewellery trend in India. It is usually worn as a statement piece for weddings or big parties with Indian ethnic wear. These pieces are also considered auspicious! These are very heavy very expensive pieces which involve very intricate work.
I am sharing my temple jewellery necklaces with motifs of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. I thought I will share it as it maybe new to some of you.I designed one of them myself.
It is one of the types of jewellery I collect, apart from pearls and gemstones. I also have some other types of jewellery in my collections, which I will share later if anyone wishes to see.![]()
