visited general pearl show room last weekend in okachimachi (jewelry district) in Tokyo.

their show room open 4 days a week only in the afternoons for 3 hours.

but I was lucky enough to go early because it took about 2 hours to select, pay and string. (so many customers!!)

Other people receive theirs few days later but they made hours on the day as we were tourists leaving in 2 days.

their selection was wide..mostly akoyas with some Tahitian and SSP with price range up to 5000usd per strand

    As a souvenir, my friend and I purchased 80usd strand/ 7.5-8mm akoya

4 silver clasps were free but I chose one that was 45usd so I can wear the clasp in the middle.

with tax refund (for overseas tourists), I ended up paying about 120 for this beauty.

yes, it has some dimples and they are not all round but I love them!

You choose a lovely strand and clasp; the overtones are perfect with your coloring! The price sounds excellent, too! So many pearls to choose from! Thank you for the photos and sharing your adventure!

What a fun day! All those pearls in one place would have made my heart beat a bit faster. Your strand is so pretty, and I love the clasp in front. Having a friend with you who also bought a strand makes it even more special. Wear them in good health!

Wow what fabulous pearls and prices! I would probably take forever to choose, and I love the idea of having clasp that looks good enough to be the centerpiece!

Wow, buying Akoya pearls in Japan is quite the experience!
As wholesalers in Tokyo, creating these experiences is so important to us.
They look beautiful, I'm so happy for you!
