I am thinking the biggest challenge will be to make all the sizes match to a flat and even design. Just doing a necklace with 2 strands can be a challenge to get just right in terms of nesting. This...

First, let me say I don't know a lot about Hanadama certification but it strikes me as curious that other companies seem to be able to match the number of pearls on the necklace with the certificate....
All I've ever known I have seen are falcons. This is very cool!
I would say it depends on how you feel about them and what the price is - which sort of adds to how you feel about them... I've seen some pretty dyed strands here that people enjoy wearing. It's not...
I've found blue Akoya to be very tricky. Tried twice to get that perfect pinkish / blue colorplay that I had seen in strands on the forum but with my budget, what I got was something that was a lot...
Good quality Akoya shouldn't wear down in your lifetime.
The saltwater pearls grow more slowly than freshwater pearls so the nacre is 'tighter' which gives more luster. It doesn't mean there...
If you love luster, you'll probably keep eying the Akoya and not really use the Freshadamas. Did you have a specific purpose for them in mind? Are they intended to fill a hole in your collection or...
"What kind of pearl is in this ring, and does it seem like the piece would be worth the approximately $1K I spent?"
I know other people here a lot better at answering those questions than me but...
I would say the difference in luster would be worth the difference in the price tag. It's kinda why you would buy Akoya in the first place :) A lot of people buy high-end freshwater pearls...
I think this thread is from August...
Many people here have bought from Wen Pearls and have been happy about it, as I understand.
www.Pearlescence.co.uk is a member here on the forum and comes highly recommended. She also travels to the Hong Kong pearl fair and can take custom orders.
In my experience, Marc H'arit seems to...
The luster seems a lot sharper to me on the inner pearl strand. For Akoyas, I would rate that highly. There also seems to be a difference in the tone (sorry, can never get the correct words right)....
My first reaction was "ewww". It's almost indecent. The innards exposed.
"We all have something to SHARE in our common Love for PEARLS."
- and our weird sense of humor :)
The price of gold has certainly gone up the past 6 months.
You ask about value as well, I see. The bracelet would not really have any and the akoyas, less than most people think. You can look at eBay (only sold listings) for strands of similar size and...
I wonder if she's going get herself new pearls for Christmas for her new job. Hopeful!
I have a strand of the barogue akoya pearls, from Pearl Paradise. They are super close to being completely round! I find them incredibly good value for money since they are super lustrous and I dare...
80? No way! Congratulations!!
Lisa, we had to go back - was in mid-May. Ida turned out to have developed a very serious case of anorexia (they wanted to hospitalize her) and had also been doing self-harm for 6 months. That was...
I've been doing my usual 1.5 hours of work while sitting in a café, am now keeping Ida company in the sofa while browsing and playing my app games and will go to my guitar after the scheduled snack...
Used this as a test :) I picked them as dyed FW too. There is something not quite right about the colors.
It is surprisingly comfortable to wear. Just wish I still had my acrylic nails but they don't go with playing guitar... It lives on my dresser when I am not wearing it so I can look at it :)
