Hi! Last weekend I was at our families cabin on a little island in Maine. (Yarmouth Maine to be specific). I was catching crabs with my son and I found a single mussel and cracked it open to feed to the crabs. Inside was this little tiny pearl. I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me anything about it. Based on the size, I'm sure it's worthless, but I will probably have it set into my moms "mothers ring" with me and my siblings birth stones. The day before I found this, we had just laid my mom to rest at sea about 3 miles from where I found it, so even with no monetary value, it is still sentimental to me. :) Thank you! image.jpg

If you key in "Maine mussels", then hit "images" on Google, you could probably identify what species of mussel it came from. In other words, I don't know anything about it. :)

But what a special treasure, especially considering the circumstances of the find!
