  • the 6mm-11mm size guide ft. Pearls of Joy freshwater studs

I've seen the question of how to choose pearl sizes come up a number of times here on PG, and it was in fact one of the first questions I posted: what do the different sizes of studs look like on? (And what would they look like on me?) A lot of people responded with pictures, which was great, and I combined these with random pictures from the web to cobble together an informal guide for myself, but I still felt it would be useful to have a systematic version with the same model and the same image size, all in one place, etc.

I was thinking, someone should make this!

So, with some help, I did.

Many thanks to Kevin at Pearls of Joy for making the project possible!

Bravo! You've done such a fantastic job and I love that you were able to get the same pose for each photo, which must have been a challenge! Thank you for mentioning button pearls in your blog post. I have a pair that I love and when they're on, the untrained eye simply can't tell they aren't completely round.

Absolutely! You can find buttons with excellent quality, too; just as beautiful, with wonderful luster and orient, but a fraction of the price of a round. AND they seem more likely to be dyed interesting colors, or am I just imagining that?

(Actually the first two poses are at a SLIGHTLY different angle. It was really difficult! I must have taken 100+ shots.)

The photos look great Meghan! I think a lot of people will find this guide very useful. "What size of pearl earring should I buy" is a question I get A LOT.

I think this thread should be stickied.

Now we need a similar thread for pearl strands....

I stuck it and I agree about the the pearls strands.

TSS, thank you for the professional quality photos and the gorgeous model wearing them! BTW, I never followed a fashion blog before, and I enjoy your blog very much- your ideas, your photos, and you! Wow.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! This is a wonderful forum - though it is no surprise that a bond of silk (or else the synthetic blends, which I can barely cut with scissors, let alone break) and pearls would be strong.
