what do you think of this item?

It very well may be a genuine pearl, but I would be willing to bet it is freshwater, definitely not Tahitian as described. After looking at the eBay seller's Website it is apparent freshwater pearls are commonly referred to as Tahitians:

Freshwater pearl rings are very common at the pearl market in Beijing. They have fake diamonds, they are silver, and they typically cost about 50 cents each...

OMG 50 cents-so cheap?
I would not imagine even that pearls from china are so cheap.
Yeah, the size was not tahitian pearl (normally they are bigger)
It is so difficult to understand in pearls...they are so many and different in quality and price...

Yes, they are unbelievably cheap, but you really get what you pay for!

I took a closer look at TADragon.com to examine the 'Tahitian' strands. They are so clearly dyed freshwater pearls, but it appears as though both strands Mr. Terry Hooper (registered owner of the Site) have already sold. I am actually going to keep an eye on that Website as fraudulent selling on eBay is one thing, but selling on a Website is a whole different ball game...Sellers like myself must protect the integrity of Internet retail Sites, otherwise the Internet will get overrun with Sites selling 'eBay pearls'. Luckily we have a lot more recourse when people set up shop on the WWW.
