I know many of you have already seen the project we have been working on for the past year. We announced it last week at the Ruckus in Beverly Hills. This is more of a formal introduction to the full community.

Recently Ive gotten involved with the CPAA, first as chairman of their marketing community and I am now treasurer of the organization.

Last year I presented an idea to the Cultured Pearl Association of America. Part of the idea was to create a new Pearl Specialist Certification Course and make it available to jewelers and pearl lovers, collectors, wholesalers and retailers around the world. They loved the idea and weve since presented it to our benefactors in Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Fiji all of whom have assisted.

I enlisted Caitlin's assistance in the research and writing. The beta version is now live at www.pearlsasone.org. The course is not finished. There is a lot left to edit and add. The tests have not been created yet either. Our goal is to have it finished, or at least very close to finished by the end of the month.

We could really use everyone's help. What is missing? What is confusing? Where are the typos? In every lecture there's a box for comments. The comments won't display publicly so please don't hold back.

We also want to create the quizzes and there are now pages for questions that you think we should include for the specialist certification.

We want everyone who is an active member of Pearl-Guide to become the first CPAA certified pearl specialists, since it is the knowledge of this community that has created the course.

ALSO! I mentioned earlier this year we would be giving away another trip to a pearl farm! Our friends at Atlas Pearl have graciously offered to host a member of our community in Bali, Indonesia. We are sponsoring the flights and Atlas will take the reins in Indonesia.

We would like to hold the drawing this Christmas. The way to enter is going to be simple. To enter, one must be a member of Pearl-Guide.com with at least 50 posts AND be a new certified pearl specialist.

We are sending someone to Bali!

I think the course is a great source of information..I finished it in two days but if I'd started earlier the first day I'd have done it in just one. I found it really interesting.

And Bali! What a wonderful privilege to be able to have a chance at it. Can't wait to see who wins!

As new sections are added you will be able to see which ones you haven't completed yet quite easily because the radial buttons will show them as new.

I did this same type of thing when I was researching and getting ready to launch my perfume company (that BIZ is on hold until the beginning of next year) But it is always so empowering to really know and understand things you are passionate about.

I completed it this evening. It's user friendly and straight forward.

I left comments on a couple of points, but otherwise found it satisfactory and enjoyable.

Well done to all involved.

I prefer the title Pearl Sommelier ;)

I hope to go through the course this weekend.

Thank you again Jeremy ;)
I actually got into the action whilst you were explaining all about the Certification Course during the Pearl Ruckus. So far I am enjoying it and learning (who says a "Pearl Expert" can't learn new things???) and I do recommend it if you like, love, want, work with, sell, manufacture jewelry, are a designer or just because you want to understand or know about PEARLS. Whatever the reason: if there is a Pearl in your Life you should do it.
KUDOS!!!!

Just a minor hijack to say to Douglas: I love that little crab in your avatar!

Also my husband has worked his way through it, and it was so great, at lunch he just started telling me all these pearl facts I didn't know he knew. He really got into the course and can;t wait for the quizzes

I just finished the course. I wanted it to be longer with more photos and even more detailed explanations. But I just can't get enough info on pearls.

WOOOOHOOOOOO! I finally managed to go back to the course and complete the quizzes & tests just now. I am now 100% complete, but I do not find any options to save/print some sort of Certificate? Help please! Thanks!

There were instructions at the beginning of the final exam. There's an email address for Bo at CPAA.
