GIA article:
"Exhibition Review: Lustre: Pearling and Australia"
https://www.gia.edu/exhibition-review-lustre-pearling-australia

"For those who cannot visit the exhibition, the museum offers online resources, such as images and text panels from the exhibition, accessible at http://museum.wa.gov.au/explore/lustre-online-text-panels."

The online resources are fantastic-- the next best thing to attending the exhibit in person. Click through the many pages to see the large images and read the text.
Edit: Hover your cursor over each photo to read the caption.
Or click the small letter i in the lower left corner (thanks, JerseyPearl).

Damn I meant to see this Exhibition but it slipped my mind!

''The pearl oyster Pinctada albina was first collected by entrepreneurs at Shark Bay in 1850, but it was the 1861 discovery of the far larger Pinctada maxima shells at Nickol Bay that had prospective pearlers flocking to Western Australia. By 1870, Queensland pearlers had established an industry in the Torres Strait. ''

i was stunned to see the 'albina'
