Yesterday Michelle Payne, youngest of 10 children, was the first woman to ever win the Melbourne Cup. (think Kentucky Derby but bigger ). The Melbourne Cup is the second richest horse race in the world...the Kentucky Derby is the 9th. So not only did she win this riding a long shot but she won it wearing her white pearl stud earrings. I loved it. (not a huge fan of horse sports but I thought she was fabulous) Her brother , who had Down Syndrome is her 'strapper' - exercising and caring for the horses.
