  • Black 100 inch pearl necklace

ok so I'll admit this was actually a mistake, the original piece was supposed to be 100" of 6-7mm black FWPs with 8 9-10mm black accent pearls - no white pearls. Regardless I'm having it redone but I'm struggling to decide if i like it or loath it... Opinions?

Like, Like, Like it lots! Highly in favor of long pearl ropes/necklaces, fun to arrange this one and see where the white pearls fall. Offers some nice options for complimentary earrings!

      Thanks Pattye,

I posted the same question on our facebook page and seems lots of people like it, I don't know if it works for me but then again I may not be the target demographic for a 100 inch necklace

I like it, and believe it looks better with white accent pearls than black ones myself.

I'm on the fence. I like the white accents more than I would like black, but I'm not sure about the spacing.

how would you space them differently? just curious. i think i'd drape them so the white pearls didn't come out so symmetrically, myself. LOVE playing with ropes of pearls and the arrangements of the "odd" pearls!

I'd have to see what they looked like on a model, I think, but I've sometimes gotten annoyed with necklaces I've made when the spacing of accent beads isn't quite where I want them when the necklace is on my neck.

Personally, I would prefer just the one size and one color. I feel like 100 inch length makes it unique and unusual enough. I'd worry about the large pearls looking strangely placed if I wore it knotted or twisted, and otherwise just like it plain.

I think it looks great but like Sea Urchin I probably wouldn't buy a rope with two colours in it, at least not two so different colours. I feel it would limit my choice of clothes as to not make the whole impression too confusing. Unless of course I was in a Black/White periode. Then it would be simply amazing.

that is kind of my feel as well Karin, confusing is a good word to describe it. Oh well it was a mistake, that's the nice thing about pearls - they can always be restrung.

confusing? i prefer the term "adding interest."

what about black tahitians with some that have a bit more of the orient in the larger sizes. a tone-on-tone, as it were. subtlety.
