  • AzFlyGirl, I loved the photos and stories. Libella, the photo is pretty darn cute, even without a video. I agree with haasya5, it's hard not to have the loving presence of a pet once you have enjoyed it.

Things are pretty good around our house now. The stress of all the changes, and a bug from Rusty took a big toll on Chester physically. He's doing better now and doing a good job of managing Rusty, who still lapses and tries to nurse on him.

These are "Mr Muffin" and "Nata" our newest adoptees.
We have 3 cats inside the house and my wife runs a "cat hostel" outside the house for strays, were we may have between 5 to 12 cats. When COVID-19 was not here she would -with the help of our daughters- capture them and have them neutered.
We had 3 dogs too, the last 2 died last year of old age.

        • Lovely cats CortezPearls. It's so great that you and your family rescues cats. Recently at least one of the funeral homes (well it's a chain) in sweden arrange adoptions of animals whose owners have passed away and don't have anyone to care for them. It's a great idea I think.

Douglas, your new adoptees are living the life now, those lucky kitties.

                        • Adorable Taco and David
We have 2 older cats outside that we feed and take care of, both white like Taco. The older one (might be some 10 years old) we call "Bapú" (Grandpa in Hindii language). Animals have been suffering with COVID-19 too
When my dad passed away, he left his dog "Shisko" an orphan, my brother kept him. But "used" animals have a harder time finding a new owner.

                          • Charlotta, they do look so cute when they sleep like this & yes I love his baby paws. Douglas, I prefer to rescue a cat or kitten too as I hate to think of animals suffering!
Ps sorry for the double photos I’m still learning how to post photos & thought only one would upload.

                            • Sometimes when you remove a photo it shows up anyway. Happens to me all the time. You can remove it properly, it's under Edit post, go advanced, manage attatchment and then you can choose the photo at the bottom of the page. However I never know what photo to remove. Lat time I removed every photo and had to attatch them again. So mostly I leave it as a ghost photo.
In sweden one of the funeral homes has started an adoption program for pets whose owners died (and noone to care for them of course). It's a huge success. I know that Cees did adopt his neighbours cat after her death. And one of my neighbours didn't sell her uncles house unless they adopted the cat as well, she took one of the lower bids accually. She couldn't take the cat herself even though she wanted to. The cat was also very attached to the house, the new owners has pets of their own and the animals are starting to accept each other after two months. That cat used to take walks with it's previous owner. He suffered from dementia and did check the postbox all the time. He also welcomed me to the neighbourhood every time he did see me, even though I have lived here for 10 years. The cat was always with him.
Since the pandemic started there has been few available pets in sweden, especially since the governement passed a law forbidding not neutered cats to be outside.

                              • It is a good law Charlotta. When dog & cat populations grow unfettered it creates a major health problem. My wife and daughters have probably been responsible for over 40 cat & dog neuterings since they started helping out 3 years ago. Last year they just did some 3, due to lockdown.
It has been more difficult to help & participate now, hopefully once the vaccines roll out they will continue...had my black cat "Queen Mimbi" take a nap on my bed yesterday...Mimbi.jpg
