Delightful score, Lisa, lustrous "rice krispies" and great finds with the bracelets and layered necklace! Gave up thrifting yard and estate sales since covid.

The polished shell looks like golden-lipped shell...but from the area of the shell that is very thick and were the bissus come out! I got to see many pearl nuclei from Palawan in the 1990's that looked just like that (except for the shape) and the bead producer explained how they used the thick part of the shell for the beads.
Should look nice! Like caramel embedded in nacre...yummy!

Pattye, I know, I quit for years, and it’s a rare event now. I went with my sister during her Thanksgiving and Christmas visits. I’ve always masked in public, even my helper Julie and I always masked, I mask even to check my mail, it’s my knees, and downsizing that hold me back. Not that pearls take up much room. Remember that phrase “There’s always room for desert.”? There’s always room for pearls!

Douglas, thanks! I watched a video of shell being cut into strips, then squares, then loaded onto a graduated grinder. I wonder if that was a link from you or Mikeyy?

Charlotta2.0 hi, yes, I’d better get moving, too! I’ve got broken strands all over the place. I’m hoping the Rice Krispies will look good with all kinds of other pearls, but could be just a pretty rope.
