Hi Bruno,

There are fossilized pearls. However, they would be valued as fossils not as gemstones and thus the respective collectors' markets (both pearl and fossil collectors) would determine the price in free bidding (also called auction or hammer price). They could only be classified as ammolite if they originated from an ammonite since ammolite is fossilized ammonite mother of pearl.

I possess some specimen of fossil pearls that I believe they can be considered as gems. I attach a sample picture.
How would I make to get them to be certified, priced and considered as gems??

Hi Bruno,

That depends on what country you are in. You would probably have to first get a verification from a qualified museum or university about the object's actual age and nature. Then you can inquire with a proper accredited gemological institution about valuation.
