This elaborate pin is 4.5 inches long and has eight carats of diamonds. I suspect that the pearls are more colorful than they appear in the photos, which are very different from side view to front. What do you think -- lovely or ugly?

Amazing use of the pearls. Think I would prefer it simply with yellow gold stems rather than all the diamonds though.

The gracefulness is most appealing and I love those pearls, too, but keep the diamonds, not my taste (nor my budget.) Thanks, Gemgeek, for showing us this piece.

It is quite lovely! I would love to see it made up without the diamonds as well...they make the pin spectacular, but more appropriate for formal attire. Thanks for sharing :D

I'd like it in yellow gold, too, but at four and a half inches, it would still be overwhelming. On the other hand, I love that the pearls inspired a designer to make something so fanciful.

Newberry, I'm afraid that my house ate my pearl budget! :)

I must admit, that to my eyes this brooch looks perfect and elaborate exactly the way it is. The precious stones do distract from the pearls, but immediately underline and transmit the message of it being a one of a kind piece.
