Opals and Pearls - Everything Old is New Again!

This remarkable opal ring comes from Hammerman Brothers of New York City. The pearl halo is reminiscent of the antique style of adorning jewels with pearls. I hope this is the beginning of a trend!

Seen at the Last Vegas Couture Show, June 2016.

Revisiting Carved Pearls - Kojima Pearl

It wasn't so very long ago that carving of pearls was considered scandalous. Galatea's lovely gem nucleated pearls were, at first, as shocking as they were beautiful. The idea of stripping away nacre was definitely not mainstream then, and while it is still outside of the norm, it is no longer thought of as desecration. Consider these intricate Tahitian pearl carvings, usually only done to save flawed cultured pearls for tourist trinkets, but done in larger amounts during the downturn of the econ...

The Delicate Treasures of Bernd Wolf

At the JCK Las Vegas show, I became acquainted with the stunning jewelry of the Bernd Wolf jewelry company. Bernd Wolf, together with his wife, Yvonne Wolf, a jewelry designer, have created timeless collections that are extremely versatile. They are made of delicate pieces that gently make their presence known, or can add up to a bold statement. Pearls make a significant part of the collections, but lovely precision cut gems such as turquoise, coral and labradorite adorn a wide selection of jewelry....

Unique Pearls Steal the Spotlight - Yvel

We welcome back Yvel, with photos taken from their display at the Couture Show in Las Vegas. Yvel has a special relationship with baroque pearls. Their designs seem almost fused with each one-of-a-kind pearl.

To demonstrate, here are two pendant pearl necklaces. The pearls are so luminous and full of texture that we might expect to see life start pulsing within.

  • Cibjo webinar/discussion on origins of gemstones
    by CortezPearls
Although it is not about PEARLS (but it may include them), some of you may find it interesting, so here is the information:

The origin of a gemstone, namely the geographic location at which it was extracted from the earth, has for years posed substantial scientific challenges to the gemmologists who are called on to make definitive judgements.

The current focus on supply chain integrity and traceability means that the concept of origin has expanded and is more relevant

Hello dear Pearl-Guide.com Forum Members: With spring comes renewed energies and pulses, the recent system upgrade also allows me to start adding up content that we believe is necessary to keep the forum growing and renewed, making it the #1 Source for Pearl information on the World-Wide-Web for years to come. • Pearls Make Me Feel Beautiful
    by GemGeek
Looking through photos from this summer, I noticed that all the photos where I am wearing pearls are the ones where I am joyous and glowing. Could there be a transfer of radiance from the pearls to the wearer? Can pearls fill the soul with visible happiness? I'm not sure, but I love my self-purchase of pearls from little h beyond measure.

Happy Blaire, followed by closeups of the pearls...
