Big Natural Pearl Attached to the Shell

Marine researcher and pearl farmer Dave LeBlanc recently found a large natural pearl attached to the shell of a mussel.

"Normally blister pearls present as a bump from a drilling predator or a ridge from a fracture, but this pearl spontaneously popped from its sac within the past year and became fixed to the shell. Although the sac burst because of the sheer size, the pearl didn't re-position itself by the looks of the growth fronts towards the outside of the shell. However, it...

Yael Sonia's Pearl Ring is Out of this World

The new show lighting was a definite viewing drawback, but it didn't deter enthusiasm for the 2018 Couture Show Awards. The display was one of the finest collections in any Couture Show competition. Although the lighting dampened the glow of pearls, this STELLAR ring form Yael Sonia was a standout.

Okay, the studio photo has better definition. I am one who feels that the charm of pearls is better c...

  • Harvest Strand Eye Candy

    Harvest Strand Eye Candy

Fresh from being seen at the Pearl Guide Ruckus, one of several special harvest strands made by a renowned South Sea pearl producer for PearlParadise.com.

Harvest strands are rope necklaces made up of pearls that are representative of a pearl harvest. This means that there are a lot of interesting shapes and colors. Even better, the necklace is long enough to see while wearing -- and to enjoy fondling!

  • New Bi-Monthly Column: The Sustainability Corner
    by CortezPearls
Hello dear Pearl-Guide.com Forum Members: With spring comes renewed energies and pulses, the recent system upgrade also allows me to start adding up content that we believe is necessary to keep the forum growing and renewed, making it the #1 Source for Pearl information on the World-Wide-Web for years to come. I had this idea of a column years ago, when I still published "The Sea of Cortez Peal Blog", which went "black" after a massive Russian hacker attack (the importance of updating your system...

Carolyn Ehret operates Ehret Design Gallery on eBay, a favorite of our members, and myself! If you find yourself having to wait for a car repair or a delayed appointment, I can practically guarantee that the time will fly by while you look at the fun items on her site. Of course, looking can be dangerous to your pocketbook. This is also a great place to find a few gems to add to a necklace or earrings--or just to source beautiful and unusual pearls. • Pearls Make Me Feel Beautiful
    by GemGeek
Looking through photos from this summer, I noticed that all the photos where I am wearing pearls are the ones where I am joyous and glowing. Could there be a transfer of radiance from the pearls to the wearer? Can pearls fill the soul with visible happiness? I'm not sure, but I love my self-purchase of pearls from little h beyond measure.

Happy Blaire, followed by closeups of the pearls...
