| Over twenty-two years ago my husband bought me a pearl pendant in Kauai, Hawaii. I just ran across the receipt for it. Oh my gosh, did we overpay! We knew nothing about pearls back then (and only slightly more now). According to the receipt it is a 10mm pearl. Here is a picture of it. In case you don't have any American pennies running around they are about 2 cm in diameter. BTW I didn’t take this picture. Jean (more in the next post) |

| I love the new pearl- the larger size definitely suits the bale very well, and the color lends the whole piece a more nautical aire... The octopus is well-crafted as well- I have a 'monster' bracelet (carved with demonic totem faces on top of each other) that I picked up from Kabana's Sterling Collection while I was working for them in AK, and it is one of my favorite pieces, because it moves so far away from what we would normally view as 'pretty'. Your pendant is very unique- and very cool! Great piece! ![]()

| Thank you, all. Such nice people. The jeweler who moved the bale from one pearl to the other offered to make a new, larger octopus for the larger pearl. I was afraid that the larger size would require more detail to maintain its relatively accurate depiction of the octopus, so I opted not to enlarge it.Best wishes, Jean |

| Good opt! I like the balance it strikes The octopus is really intricate, great detail

| Jean, The proportion between bail and pearl look just fine! Beautiful pearl too! Very attractive, and I like the way the octopus folds around the pearl. That pendant will get you noticed, I'll bet------- Pattye so many pearls, so little time |

| Hi Jean, That is a lovely design. The pearl is so beautiful with striking color. I notice that most Hawaiian jewelry shops have some of the most unusual and beautiful designs. Of course, their price tags are way up there too. |
