Default hollow tahitian how do they work ?

in the last years i had a couple hollow pearls, does anyone here know how they work ?how do they form and are they keshi s when they come with normal harvest ?

my last one is a 20 mm 18 mm baroque from the cook islands it just looks like a large baroque tahitian only the weight is super low for a pearl that size just 1,4 grams

Occasionally grafts don't take entirely (or not at all) then a gaseous bubble forms around the necrotic cells, creating a cyst. Sometimes the cyst becomes a pseudo nucleus and is mineralized.

This is similar to natural pearls formed around parasites.

Experts, since we are on phenomena here, have you encountered rattling tahitians or south sea pearls then? A loose nucleus, I assume... Why and how?

Yes, I have, a couple of times. I'm glad I'd already seen a discussion about it here before the first encounter!
It must be that for some reason the first layer of nacre forms around the nucleus but not so closely that it adheres.
I gave up trying to 'catch' the drill hole after a few hours and re-drilled through the original holes in the nacre - leaving the drill bit in to anchor the spinny nucleus. That worked fine and after some time my blood pressure went back down too.
