Default What kind of pearls are these? What are they worth?

These were a gift, they are small pink pearls, I know they are pearls because I rubbed them together and the powder shows, plus they are each different size and color. please help me value them as I have no knowledge of pearls. thank you

Those are cultured freshwater pearls from China. though not very valuable, they certainly are pretty!

I'm truly bothered that people think rubbing real pearls together should produce a powder. It Shouldnt produce a powder!

It certainly can produce powder, especially if they had a lot of treatment. Cute little pearls!

'Splain it to me, please? None of my CFW pearls shed powder when rubbed together. Neither do the pearls in my Akoya necklace.

    ???

Presumably, since these were a gift, all processing 'dust' would've been cleaned up, so....please, what am I missing? Are you saying maybe, over-processing has made the nacre more fragile? Will her pearls always shed dust, or will they eventually get to an undamaged layer?
