    Default Experience with HarmonyPearls

    Hi all,

I am a long time lurker/first time poster here, and wanted to post my experience working with Amrita at HarmonyPearls.com. Thanks to the wealth of information found on this board, The Pearl Buying Guide and The Pearl Book, I approached Amrita at HarmonyPearls with some questions on several strands that I was interested in. I bombarded her with endless questions about everything possible and to her credit, she replied all of my questions with much patience and very quickly, despite the time difference between us both. Pictures online made it hard to envision what it looks like in real life – moreover, the fact that I have not heard of any reviews of HarmonyPearls before made me nervous about possible returns. After countless emails with Amrita I decided to take a risk and placed my order, trusting her to pick a strand that would meet what I am looking for. She offered to string the strand for me into a necklace at no charge and ship it out the very next day since I have a business trip coming up.

3 days after I placed my order, the necklace arrived. The luster on the pearls was even better than an AAA freshwater necklace that I possessed, and my worries about body color (since online it looked peachy/gold) were unfounded – it was exactly what I had asked for – high luster, white body color with visible rose overtones. To be sure I followed the directions in the books and looked each pearl over with a loupe, under different lighting conditions etc. Suffice to say I am really glad I took the risk! I have posted photos below. It's an AAA 10 mm to 10.5mm white freshwater necklace, with rose overtones.

They are GORGEOUS! and they look beautiful on you.
Not only that, you did a great job with the photographs!

Kind of curious that you didn't see much feedback about Amrita, since she's so very well regarded. Maybe her customers are more reticent? A lot of people don't get back to us once they've 'done the deed', now that I think about it . Probably busy enjoying their pearls!

Is the necklace 21", 22"? I'm still sighing over it...

Thanks ladies for all your kind words! It was certainly a bit of a risk buying overseas compared to getting them from the well regarded vendors here, but my correspondences with Amrita reassured me somewhat. Pearls are so hard to photograph, in each of the pictures it reveals a different aspect of its' beauty.

    lisa c,

the necklace is actually 18.5 inches. I am pretty surprised too that there were no reviews on HarmonyPearls since Amrita has been a member here for so long, but I suppose it's more common for people to post complaints or issues rather than testimonials. Re: pictures, thanks! I was a diamond aficionado before I became a pearl aficionado (have some tahitians in the works right now) so I used to spend time tinkling with my point and shoot taking pictures of my baubles

Thanks so much for the compliments Shan, and for writing such a detailed review! I am so pleased that this beautiful piece has gone to someone who appreciates it so much. And appreciation is what keeps us going...., so thanks onvce again.

Thanks Adeline, Lisa and Pat for your kind words....they mean a lot.

TO answer your question about length, Lisa,I think it should be between 18.5 and 19 inches. Shan would be able to confirm the exact length.

It was a standard length 16 inch strand that was strung and knotted, and then finished with a sterling silver ball clasp. Usually, that comes to about 18 inches, but in this case the clasp was fitted on to a thin silver wire that goes over the thread at both ends of the necklace, adding a tiny bit to the length of the necklace and giving it a nicer "hang" around the neck.....if you know what I mean....

    Smiles to all...

Thanks Alex! Yes, that is a really special golden SSP strand. This one might be taken soon.
I do have another one in the same league though.
    Thanks Katbran!
