I had to laugh. This is a new take on women fiddling when the menfolk's tie!

And Jeremy, your lovely fiancee does not mind you doing that?

Ok. Damage is done, pearls are ordered. I should get them next week. I'll post pictures... both sides....

I've wondered why pearls with flat backs/ unattractive backsides aren't double drilled, so you'd use double, parallel threads. Wouldn't that hold the pearls with one surface always up? Not having drilled pearls, I imagine there's a reason why not?

Imanit, Those sure look colorful in the photo.. looking forward to seeing your photos of them.

Lisa, Sometimes they do double drill button shape pearls so they will sit flat.. mostly in really inexpensive Chinese pearls. One time in Tucson I saw a strand of mabe pearls (maybe 14mm) double drilled to sit flat "collar-like" around the neck. The look was fantastic, and the drilling was SO precise, each pearl drilled at a slightly different angle to fit the neck just so... the price tag was absolutely comical... especially considering that these were high domed mabes with a flat shell backing, making them 80% glue and 20% shell. I think there was an interesting idea there with the incredibly precise drilling, just wished they'd used real pearls! Sorry it was so long ago, I didn't take any photos.

So, Ivona or Jeremy could've requested the pearls be double drilled? Oops, sorry I forgot Jeremy and Hisano ARE drillers, among their other roles.

Dont worry. if the other side is not good. just put the bad side to your skin. not let them be seen by other people.
Jewelry is for the person who wear it or for showing to the people who appreciate it?

I took the liberty of adjusting the photo for a whiter background and fewer shadows and this is what it looks like:

That is a stunning strand of pearls!

Yes, the color corrected picture shows color more realistically. I should get the strand mid this week. Pearls for this strand were picked form "bucket" of loose pearls. I got those picture first:

It made me ask if they have enough pearls for a strand....

    They did..

    BIG DISAPPOINTMENT !!...

I received the strand.... and I sent it back. I did not even take pictures. I was so furious at myself for believing in miracles and believing that I found a strand that is close to what Jeremy found for Hisano....

Loose pearls that I received from the batch that pearls for necklace were picked from, are acceptable. Not "out of this world", but acceptable for $15 a pearl. I'll take picture of them tonight and post it.
Pearls that "experienced worker" picked for necklace were horrific on the back side and even on the sides thet were not shown on picture..

I know that I would be gloating if I would have receive amazing strand, so I believe that I have to "put the tail between my legs" and admit publicly that I was naive and not to smart ordering from new supplier a rather expensive strand that I saw only one picture of and got a reassurance that back side has only minor blemishes..

    Another lesson learned....

what a shame. Can't fault you for the trying though. Are you going to name the supplier?
Clearly the pearls were there, since the singles were okay.
There really is nothing to compare with one's own eyes, that's foir sure
    Hope the refund goes smoothly

I'm buying directly from China. This purchase was from Zhejiang Runfeng Jewellery. My agent in China found those pearls there.
I should have no problem with refund. I wasted $70 on shipping it back.. but this is all I lost... ( some pride maybe too...)

Oh so disappointing, Ivona, feeling sad with you, knowing sometimes the magic happens, but sometimes not. I've experienced this first hand, too. Glad you got some photo worthy pearls out of the deal.

Oh, dear, that is too bad! I wish it had worked out for you, but please don't add chagrin to your disappointment.

I think if you hadn't bought them, you would always have wondered if you had let a great strand get away from you.

I am pretty sure that there will be more of those available honestly, because there is obviously a demand. These guys were deliberately exploiting that craving. Ever since I saw Hisano's I have also craved one with similar colors. so I was right there urging you to get it. I hope you do get one like Hisano's, I am sure they are coming soon. Right now, your guy is just getting the teasers!
