I was eating a clam during dinner when I bite down on this. Can anyone tell me what it is. Some say its a pearl?

It probably is. What kind of clam? Was it cooked? Cooked pearls can be quite soft.
It's a pearl alright.
Do you know what species? Do you have an approximation of the size?
Most pearls originating from clams lack the nacerous lustre of gem grade pearls and cooking very often destroys the protein component.
Pearls cannot be polished.
What you have here is an unusual keepsake and a story of finding something rare.
I'm fond of all natural pearls, despite their appearances. Each one of them has a mystery.

In hope this helps. The calm the pearl was found in was wild caught, Houston Texas. The restaurant said the purchase thee clams from sysco foods. The pearl doesn't appear to be soft. I almost broken a tooth when I bite down on the clam.
Hi Samuel,
A broken tooth was my first thought as I had a similar experience many years ago. (My clam pearl is purple and tiny but still gave the teeth a jar.) This one looks like a pendant in the making![]()
That is a great souvenir you have!
What a story to tell your friends and family! Great keepsake!![]()
I need to eat more clams I guess. This sort of thing never happens to me. If I didn't have bad luck. I would have no luck at all.
Needless to say it is a great conversation piece.
