Default Tahitians? or are they FW dyed?

    Hi all,

Some more photos of what appears to be a Tahitian pearl necklace. The pearls are 8 to 13mm so in the right size range.

I think they are Tahitians, although not positive and if they are wonder what those that know a lot about Tahitians think of the quality and worth if possible. The photos are the best but all I have at the moment.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Dawn- Those don't look dyed to me at all. There's a ton of variation in overtone and iridescence in each pearl featured that says to me Tahitians, natural color. Fun necklace layout too btw!

After the lessons i got from Tahitian, biz on that kind of color, I'd guess those are Tahitians, too. If they are freshwater- I really want some!

Definitely Tahitians I'm guessing. The photo shows really good, almost too good, color. Some pearls appear to be heavily pitted so it's pretty impossible to assign a value just like that. Also there is something blue that is reflecting on the top/right side of each pearl. This gives it an even more colorful look that it might not take with it. Regardless, the color is gorgeous. If you can nail down where they came from so you are buying legit pearls, go for it!

Thanks Ashley, I was hoping someone knowledgeable like you would come in. Josh is on line I think hopefully he might come in with his opinion and hopefully what would be a reasonable price to pay.

    Thanks All,

I just got another couple of photos so will upload them. Might give you a better idea. They don't look as lively in these.

It's definitely a Tahitian strand. The matching is interesting - especially the size. It seems a bit random.

Me too- it's a whimsical kind of gypsy-style layout that really caught my eye. I'd wear this one with layered with more necklaces and funky chains!

The up close shots are revealing some seriously fun shapes- they look like they're beginning to border on going free-form rather than dropish like some WSS. In either case- very cool find, Dawn!
