I'm pretty certain of the response, but I've been asked, so I'll back my impressions up with the experts. What do you think?

Momi means pearl in Hawaiian!
Dyed freshwater pearls with silver beads in between - is that what you mean?

Pretty much, yep. I hate telling people the truth sometimes, but the truth will set you free, right? But since they asked I will, and now with greater authority.

Not just plain Tahitian, but "Tahitian Black" pearl is always a give away there is some fudging going on, meant to fool the unwary. In fact anyone who calls them "Tahitian Black freshwaters" is still playing into that mindset.
Because people walk away remembering only the "Tahitian" part of the phrase.

Well, luckily these were not purchased, and she had a very good idea that they were freshwaters. Nothing deliberately misleading (for once), just lack of information.
Thanks guys!
