Good for you! Now you have an opportunity for a long lasting relationship with a responsible vendor! Not possible with Groupon offers!

Groupon is in trouble here in the UK from the Office of Fair Trading (Gov consumer authority) and the ASA (regulates adverts for accuracy etc)

    Gosh, what a surprise!

    The Telegraph article says:

The Advertising Standards Authority also referred the company to the OFT after Groupon was found to have breached advertising codes more than 50 times in a year.

The OFT said it was concerned over “reference pricing, advertising, refunds, unfair terms, and the diligence of its interactions with merchants”.

(OFT is "Office of Fair Trading")

Woah! What a story! I'm having it all: on top of popcorn (salt and butter), why not candy and chocolate. I think we should hope for a good ending soon. It's about time... Praise the one who will have the authority to stop this nonsense.

    Default My

I did not realize how wide-spread the concern with MyPacificPearls.com was until I was looking around the web after posting my own review.
I am not going to re-post it on this forum, but perhaps you might get a kick out of it here:

I saw today that Groupon was fined for some other hanky panky, but I forgot to bookmark it.

Hanky panky - love it - and pretty accurate too....

The term is first recorded in the first edition of 'Punch, or the London Charivari', Vol 1, Sept, 1841:

"Only a little hanky-panky, my lud. The people likes it; they loves to be cheated before their faces. One, two, three—presto—begone. I'll show your ludship as pretty a trick of putting a piece of money in your eye and taking it out of your elbow, as you ever beheld."

Groupon had more customers seeking refunds than it expected. If more of their deals were like this one, is there any surprise?

Default A little late but I was too annoyed to let it go...

As to where the "South Pacific" farms are located, it took me quite a while as you can see from the conversation but eventually the location was disclosed:

Quentin Roberts: Hello and welcome to MyPacificPearls.com! How may I be of assistance?
Phil: How would you respond to the multitude of negative reviews regarding the quality of your pearls?
Quentin Roberts: The pearls are 100% authentic and genuine high quality AA+ freshwater pearls from the Pacific region. All the pearls in the collection are entirely natural and are untreated, except the Silver / Grey and Golden pearls, which do not occur naturally in those colors in the freshwater species. All Silver / Gray and Golden freshwater pearls available in the world are delicately treated to bring out a natural color tone. Every necklace comes with a detailed certificate of authenticity and valuation for insurance purposes. For your added peace of mind, we proudly cover every item in our collection by an unconditional Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee.
Phil: Where in the Pacific region do your pearls originate from?
Quentin Roberts: Pacific Pearls are sourced solely from the Pacific region stretching from French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean and across to Australia and the Celebes Sea of the Western Pacific Ocean. This region is home to oysters and mussels that produce the world’s finest pearls. Any pearls sourced from beyond this magical region are not considered genuine Pacific Pearls.
Phil: I am quite aware of the extent of the Pacific region however I was asking where your freshwater farms are located?
Quentin Roberts: My Pacific Pearls offers an unprecedented selection of pearl jewelry designs that truly reflect the exotic variety of pearl types, colors, and shapes found in the reefs and islands of the Pacific.
Quentin Roberts: Skilled local craftsmen from this region have learned to use a wide range of unique pearl shapes to create fascinating pieces of jewelry by blending their traditional techniques with classic styles and our beautiful modern designs. Every piece of jewelry on our website is painstakingly hand-made with the highest attention to detail using 100% genuine Pacific Pearls and shell products.
Phil: Can you offer an answer rather than an automated response?
Quentin Roberts: I have just provided you the answer.
Phil: Where are the freshwater farms located? What country and what city?
    Phil: ?
Quentin Roberts: Just a moment please.
    Phil: Mr. Roberts?
Quentin Roberts: I am right here Sir.
Quentin Roberts: Please allow me few more moments. I am consulting this with my supervisor.
Quentin Roberts: Pacific Pearls are sourced solely from the Pacific region stretching from French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean and across to Australia and the Celebes Sea of the Western Pacific Ocean.
Quentin Roberts: And local craftsmen from this region have learned to use a wide range of unique pearl shapes to create fascinating pieces of jewelry by blending their traditional techniques with classic styles and our beautiful modern designs.
Phil: That is the same response as earlier. Am I to assume by Australia being bolded that your farms are located there?
Quentin Roberts: Pacific region stretching from French Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean and across to Australia as well.
Quentin Roberts: Also Celebes Sea of the Western Pacific Ocean.
Phil: Do you have any specifics on the location of your farms though? At least one actual farm location rather than the entire region?
Quentin Roberts: No, I am sorry.
Phil: And your supervisor doesn't have that knowledge either? Also are the pearls harvested from the Unio mussel?
Quentin Roberts: Our freshwater pearl farms are located in the Philippines, Indonesia and mainland China.
