Default My new pastel Tahitian pearls

Some of you already know I am not fond of light-colored Tahitian pearls, especially gray ones. I prefer dark, intense colors such as peacock, bright green, blue, etc. I’ve discovered there are pastel Tahitian pearls that attract me, especially the yummy candy colors. Last year I chose blue and pink loose pearls from Tahiti Pearl Market in Hawaii and bought their white gold setting. I asked Jeremy of Pearl Paradise to mount them for me (see first picture below).
    http://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/tah...-hawaii-5.html ( see picture from post # 74).

We just came back from Hawaii and went to Margo Tahitian Pearl in Waikiki, also owned by Tahiti Pearl Market. I picked 2 more pearls mounted on the same setting. I now have 2 pendants that can be interchanged into a pair of earrings on hoops. These are 9-10mm.

I picked some more multicolor pastel pearls to make a necklace with ribbon. The split rings at the end allow me to remove the ribbon and connect to gold chain to make a "different" necklace. At certain angles, some pearls have lavender iridescence. These are 9-10+mm.

Note: None of these pictures have been photoshopped. That is why the background is slightly blue instead of the white envelope background.

I picked them from boxes like the first picture below. I also wanted to make a pendant with 3 pearls.

I saw a cute pink one and picked it. Then I got 2 more blue ones, and the trio didn’t seem right. It’s hard to pick them when there are many pearls next to each other, which reflect the other colors onto them. You really have to use the tweezer to push apart to allow some space on the white tray to see each one’s true color.

Luckily, I had my husband there; and his eagle eyes spotted a light pistachio one. When put together, the various colors make the pendant very soft, but colorful, and pop at the same time. Here is the result. They will be connected using gold pin (pin is hidden, so I used yellow gold, out of white gold pin) and a simple white gold bale at the top. These are also 9-10mm.

Here is a 13mm that I have not found a bale for it yet. It changes its color depending on which surface you are looking at. The best side is green inside with purple halo.

They have some colorful pearls that are large. But the best colors are some of the ones below, 13+mm. My husband picked a “different” one. It is what I can describe as eggplant (aubergine). At certain angle, it looks black, then dark chocolate, and then purple (4th and 5th pictures). Colors seem to have been washed out after resizing and uploading.

These are very affordable and “fun”, with waves and cheetah designs, etc. They are made of pearls, resin and acrylic, or pink and turquoise crystal, or 18K plated over silver.

This necklace has huge pearls. The largest one is about 20mm, if I remember correctly.

Whoa- that is one serious Tahitian necklace! I tend to like your baroque picks more- the more colorful and alive, the better!- but there's something to be said for a very minimally graduated necklace like that- especially in those sizes... The pearls all look like they've got some nice color saturation to them, too!

Wow, what a treat to see all these terrific photos! I'm bringing some souffle' pearls to the ruckus, but you're probably broke by now.

I did not ask for its price (20mm strand). Considering the size, I think the luster and colors are beautiful and rare. There is a round strand, much more colorful, but smaller than the 20mm one, with a very large and expensive diamond clasp for either $167K or $175K.
