Ready to buy c-d quality Tahitian baroques

I am getting ready to begin my foray into carrying Tahitian pearls, and like my freshwater pearls, I want to offer them for a low price for a lower quality product. More as curios than actual gems, I am looking for someone who know how to get the cheap stuff in quantity direct. Any help would be VERY appreciated, I am not planning on stepping on any toes, I want to sell the lower quality stuff that most people wouldnt consider stocking themselves.

I just came back from the Fair in Shenzhen and how many kilo's of low grade Tahiti's u want? I have seen such big quantities in strands and loose pearls and I won't mention the prices here, but they are shocking low. Hope the Chinese market absorb these pearls themselves

If the Chinese market is able to utilize ALL of these low quality, low priced pearls, it would be great for the Tahitian Pearl Industry as a whole! Normally, because of the volume can they CAN dissolve, it should not be a problem for them. However, it is best that those pearls stay in China and are not re-exported out to other countries. Low prices there are also attributed to "un-declared, shipped by container/by-passing quality controls here in Tahiti," which is difficult to compete with in running a clean and correct business. I've also had a look at those pearls there, and there is NO WAY that they could LEGALLY be exported from French Polynesia with the current exportation laws in place. Anyhow, price is what seems to drive this madness. Looking for kilos of regulated baroques with a certificate of authentic business? Look me up. Thanks.

If they stay in China, where would they go? Is there that much demand in China to match the supply? It's a shame that those illegal pearls got out of FP to ruin the Tahitian pearl reputation.

I just remembered...there will be plenty of eBay auctions to get rid of these.

Someone in the purse forum said they bought SS earrings for $10/pair and $80-$100/strand of Tahitian pearls in China. I told that poster she must have bought dyed FW. She insisted that her pearls are authentic Tahitian and that prices in the US are inflated, even Future Fashionista/Elana's prices. Bear in mind that FF's circled strands ran around $250 and up, mostly in the $300 range. Either that poster bought C/D grade pearls or hers were really FW.

I hear you there, even everwhere online, you can see Tahitian Pearls being mis-represented as Chinese freshwater! Because everyone is so price conscious today, those dealers are getting away with it too. And of course, it is too bad that many of the "undeclared" pearls are making it to China. However the route is simple. The container makes to Hong Kong via Papeete, then from there it dispatches to the rest of Asia.
In regarding the market of China, yes it is capable that they COULD absorb all those pearls. There is a buying power in China that is unquenchable for the time being. We hope for it to remain in their domestic market, which is huge and developing. Similar to how the US Market was about 10-15 years ago. However, there always will remain a percentage that strives to re-export their merchandise abroad, this is where we'll run into problems. However, just like in any country...it's usually best that their "crap" is kept in-house. We'll never know how much of that will remain possible.
In any case, I have 1,000's of BCD strands of all shapes and sizes, legally declared and exported to Hong Kong, if anyone is interested, lol. The merchandise is now their, ready for export to the rest of the world. It is for this reason, I'm aware of what my competitors(for lack of a better word) are doing. In any case, we continue to move forward!

Yes we do, all in due respect to the chain of distribution as well as our wholesale customers. In the meantime, we are in a process of creating an innovative process of reaching retail customers as well as our distributors, lol. That will all be unveiled in the near future. However, we do have retail storefronts here in Papeete and can also work in that manner. Thank you for your question.
