Keishi advice please

I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum so forgive me if not...I would like a single strand of keishi pearls. White or cream with colorful overtones (orient? may have my terms wrong forgive me). Not too large in size. Any advice where to start looking?

Let me say that you will get far more hits if you search "Keshi". I am also one of millions who also called it keishi (Rhymes with "Heishi" the Southwestern cylinder beads).
Keshi is actually pronounced with a short e as in "chestnut".

Lots of them for sale by member vendors. I would look at Integrity Pearls for small well-priced keshi. We have several members from Canada too.

Oh, a great choice for a 2nd strand! This likely would be a custom order--nearly everyone has some keshis. Freshwater will be lower in cost than South Sea keshi. (Tahitian keshi are darker, of course, and more costly, but gorgeous!)

You can have them knotted to the finished length you wish, with your choice of clasp.

welcome to the forum and congratulations on your exotic purchase Nothing like starting out with the cream of the crop

A great idea to follow-up with a keshi necklace! I adore keshi pearls and their quirky shapes make them ideal for both casual wear and dressy occasions. I have several freshwater keshi necklaces and earrings and also Tahitian keshi pendants and earrings.

As Pattye mentioned the freshwater keshi are more affordable than the South Sea and Tahitian keshi, especially relevant if it's a necklace you want! Regardless of which type of keshi pearls you choose, look for excellent glowing lustre with no dull or chalky areas. The overtones on keshi are many and varied and I've never met one I didn't like! If you're considering white keshi, you can choose overtones from silver, rainbow, creamy golden, creamy peach, pinky lilac etc. to suit your skin tone. Gosh Kelly, you might have to get more than one

Thanks for the replies. I get so excited when I check and see that people have answered. Mind you there isn't much that doesn't exited me about Pearl-guide...

Great tips about the keishi's. Looks like freshwater keishi's are the ones for me then if they are more reasonably priced. I like these small as well. Big necklaces look silly on me for some reason. Scale, scale, scale.

I love keshi pearls, but just for the record what we call FW keshiʻs are really second harvest pearls. They are produced deliberately instead of the accidental nature of salt-water keshi. Whatever, I love them whether you say Keishi, or keshi or second harvest or tomato, or tomahto!!!!

Not all saltwater keshi are big: Akoya keshi and Cortez Keshi are smaller than their SSP counterparts.

These are photos of a lot of specially selected Cortez Keshi (21.5 grams):
Size: 3 to 7 mm
Colors: varied and deeply colored, intense overtones.
Shapes: mostly semi-baroques.
As always...our pearls are not processed...
