    I wouldn't say it is fraud at this point. A lot of people that have brought "pearls" to me in the past have thought they were real and were told they were real. When they exchange hands, especially several times, it is difficult to know for sure.

    I would strongly suggest examining them in person. They look like faux pearls to me - 100%.

    Fraud? Not if it's an innocent mistake. They don't sound like the kind of people who would knowingly sell imitation pearls as the real thing.
