Don't know what it's called, and don't know where to look for it, so oh boy! Any pointers beading friends?

Is this what you mean? The part that goes into the pearl is the post.

Pendant Setting or Earring setting (Studs or French wire mostly). I think Pearlparadise has in 14K gold. Ebay sellers have in 18k (Katy's findings??) or 22k gold (Agustus).

    Default Half drilled pearls

More suppliers of earring findings are:

Firemountain.com (silver mostly), you could ask for their catalogue. Itīs free, also Rio has it.
    Rio Grande.com (gold)
    Bella findings.com (gold, silver)

The findings can also bed called studs, postings, nuts (the "plate") that is pulled over the post....

I think kitties are naturally attracted to books and keyboards. I had read your previous post (very late at night) as mt cat Aetna. Which was funny enough to share if she's that big of an obstacle - I thought, anyway...of course I was up too late.

I just bought some pendant and earring findings from Bella Findings and GS Hypo Glue (also from Bella) to attach -- worked like a charm. I think Jeremy recommended Bella on another thread and I purchase all my gold findings from them. I really appreciate that they are willing to sell wholesale to lowly beaders like myself. Kate

Not sure about Hypo glue for making earrings - does its use for securing silk ends come from its staying flexible to some extent?
    I use epoxy

I've used it for earrings without a problem, but for dangles. I'm not sure it would hold up to use in stud earrings -- in fact nothing works for me on stud pearl earrings -- they always come off. I can't wear my freshadama earrings because one came off. It rolled down my chest and onto the floor of the car while I was driving. At least I still have it!

Hypo cement keeps watch crystals on, so it's no slouch.

I've used Gorilla Glue for some jewelry repairs...it's pretty strong stuff.

I use Vigor and it holds very well. One of my studs came off when I pulled the nut to put it on, but didn't come off by itself, like in Blaire's case. Pendants, dangles are still in perfect condition, so far.

Heidi, to clean up the smears from Gorilla glue what do you use? Does Attack work on it?

What I really need is the mystery glue that took a week soaking in Attack to loosen!

I haven't used GG on pearls, only metals...not what I would call high-end stuff. That said, it cleans OK with Attack but I wouldn't say perfectly without a little work. I've used it for metal to metal connections that have failed (small welds or solders) and for reinforcing hard stones in their settings. I must emphasize I am not a jeweler, just like to wear it...and circling that beading drain.

    Blair,

that sounds as if it was Vigor Super Glue you are talking about. I glued many pearls to the posts and so far only one has come off. But it is really dangerous and messy if you get it on the pearls.
