They are Dover books, now. I hope Dover does another reprint. Even those are going for over $100.

    Default book of the pearl...

Mmmmmm ... I was gifted one of the first edition copies of The Book of The Pearl a few years ago. It is one of the very few possessions I would take with in an emergency. My favorite illustration is the "Madam Nordica Collection of Colored Pearls" shown below. This book is an oasis for me.

My favorite quote: "Do Churls know the worth of Orient pearls?
Give the gem which dims the moon to the noblest or to none."
    -- Emerson

Happy Saturday to all you Pearls... I hope you are enjoying this beautiful summer!
    Cheers, Sarah

Lucky! What a beautiful book. The University of Oregon has a first edition copy, so I ordered it inter-library loan so I could at least look at it for a little while I did order a new copy (2001 pub date) from a seller on Amazon for $122. There are several available from various sellers for about $135. There are also two first editions available for $1200 and $2875! Kate

Thanks Sarah for the photos. The giver receives the gift of knowing how much you enjoy it and always will.

Gosh, I should have gone for it on the books. They were first editions and signed! I was hoping someone here got them from that auction.

Here are a few more listings on Abebooks (original hardcovers & new paperbacks) that are available for sale.

Edit: If you go to farlang.com you can read the book online for free.
