Default Do you own a tin cup style necklace?

If so do you have any photos? Recently I've become interested in them but can't quite figure out how they fall.
    TIA

Not quite sure what you mean here....they hang in a sort of U shape like most necklaces and the openness of the U depends on the length of the necklace and the ratio of pearls to chain.

I don't really know a better way to say it. Guess I'm wondering about the slack between the pearls and if the chain looks like it's lifted above your skin a little. I'd like to see how it hangs when worn. I've never actually seen one on.

If you search the forum there were some pix in a discussion a while ago. The chain between the pearls can be as long or short as you want and while with smaller pearls the chain will probably touch skin in places, with bigger pearls it will, of course, hang away. Whether it looks like it's lifted and whether you think that is good or not, I can't really say.
It all depends on the lengths of chain, the length of the necklace and the size of the pearls

    Casey,

Here is a thread that Ashley at purepearls.com posted http://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/pea...-ive-seen.html

Check out cpaa.org newsletter, Summer 2008, page 2. There is a cameo of Kathy Griffin wearing a few http://cpaa.org/newsletter.asp

These are small pictures, I know. I don't think the issue is as crucial for necklace as it is for bracelet, which the chain may hang away from the skin. For necklace, I believe it still drapes nicely because the chain covers a longer area as compared to bracelet.

Pearl Paradise's tin cup page has pictures. If you click on each item, and click to see alternative views, there are photos of them on neck forms http://www.pearlparadise.com/tahitian-tincup.html

I think Wendy said it perfectly!

I made a tin cup for my DIL for Christmas. Seven - 10-11mm Tahitians. Very fine white gold chain. I think it was originally 19 inches. When she first put it on, I was horrified! Just the middle pearl sagged in a V-shape, but after shortening it an inch, it then was perfect length for her and resolved the sagging, enough to keep the chain taut, but not choker tight. Usually the chains are so fine, they are hardly noticible. The chain would sit more off the neck near the pearl, but touch the skin in between, based on the size of the pearls or gems. I used lengths of chain 1 1/4 inch long between pearls. when I make some with freshwaters, I will try 1 inch of chain. Just my opinion--------

Love the long chains on ONJ!

    Wendy,

Have you done longer ones--like 24 -30 inches? I think they would fall ok also.

Hi Pattye - what I have is on the website. (http://www.pearlescence.co.uk/index.php/cPath/24_123
I think the cranberry, the small grey and the silver keishi are quite long - and prob some others too, without going and looking at the stock or the specific pages

Gorgeous! What a lovely selection! Yes, I see you have all lengths! The grey is 65cm which equals approx 25 1/2 inches. (Had to get out my tape and check.) I can think in mm but not cm.

LOL, I have one necklace listed! I better get busy------!
