Smile New to Pearl: Suggest some book

Friends, I am new to the forum.

My family got a jewellery and gems show room in Calcutta, India. While taking interest in family business i slowly got fascinated with pearls. Their beauty, charm, glow, shape all amaze me all the time. The best thing is, unlike other gems, pearls' production could be controlled by man to a grate extent.

But while searching for books I found none in Calcutta Market. I need ur help. Please suggest some ebooks and their url so that i can download and read them.

    Hi Bluesea,

I suggest you start by reading the information here, listed at the left of the screen. I can't think of any free downloads other than the out-of-print book, The Book of the Pearl on www.farlang.com

There are lots of books for purchase. If you only buy one book, make it Pearls, by Elisabeth Strack.

    Good Luck!

Does farlang allow you to download "the Book of the Pearl?" If, so wow.
Finding a hard copy is hard and they go for over $100. It is the best summary of the history of natural, wild pearls, ever. Printed in 1908, natural pearls were in the dusk of their heyday. It was a great read and education though.

The text book is "Pearls" by Elisabeth Strack 750 pages of solid research on just about every aspect of pearls. About USD$150 to buy and ship to India from Germany. You can find the German publisher in this section of the forum.

    And welcome bluesea.
