I'm not sure if this has been posted before but I found this old video - I thought it was kinda cool: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...32205808040637

I thought it was kinda cool in a retro way and some great shots of nucleation at around 2:00.

I loved the nucleation shots too. Where was the video made?

I agree - fascinating to be able to get that close-up view. Even looking over the shoulder of the grafters at Kamoka, I couldn't get a good view of what was going on inside the shell. Thanks for posting this, Kevin!

It's made by GIE Perles de Tahiti called Gems of Eden (Les joyaux de l'Eden). The longer version is here starting about 4 or 6 minutes into the video. http://www.perlesdetahiti.net/site/en/1665.html.

"Les aventuriers de la perle noire" is a very long one, lots of interviews with Robert Wan. It was also posted here: http://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/tah...-hawaii-2.html

Sorry for the thread diversion here, but Kevin, I am guessing the beasties in the new avator are definitely not of the "tag and release" persuasion??
