I read this book while on vacation and found it to be very interesting. Although it is a novel, it deals a lot with the history of pearling. You can read the synopsis and see if it is something you would enjoy. It partly takes place in Vancouver where I spent time as a child.

While searching om Amazon for new interesting books about pearls I came across this one, which is mostly about eatable oysters but has also something about pearl oysters. I haven´t bought it yet but I think I will.
